New Jersey voters oppose allowing casinos outside Atlantic City, poll shows

A Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) poll indicates that New Jersey residents remain against expanding casino operations beyond Atlantic City. Implementing such a change would necessitate a constitutional amendment, which must be ratified by voters via a referendum.

The latest findings show public sentiment is consistent with prior surveys. Approximately 44 percent of those polled expressed support for permitting casinos outside of Atlantic City, compared to 42 percent in 2014 and 41 percent in 2016. The study also noted that opposition is particularly strong in regions near Atlantic City, most notably around the Meadowlands.
